Off the deep end…

Its been quite a process but I’m finally organized enough to get this journey started.  I’ve posted the cover for today and page 1 will be on Monday.  Deep Dive Five will update on Mondays for the foreseeable future.  I have completed the first 30-ish pages to create a solid buffer while I tackle the next installment.  The reason for such a large buffer is originally this was meant as a stand alone story.  I had thought about creating my own comic for the longest time and realized that if I didn’t sit down and crank it out – it would never happen.  So that is basically what I did.  I will go into more detail with future posts as to my thoughts and process to getting this story out of my head and into the world, but it should be noted that I am not a professional illustrator and I don’t work in the comic industry.  A lot of what I attempted was trial and error and researching different methods online.  There are so many amazing artists out there that dismantle and demystify the process that all I had to do was find the time and be disciplined.  At the end of the day, all I want to do is tell stories and this format is perfect for me.  It helps I work in the digital world as a photographer so I do understand colorspace and publishing terminology but there was still a learning curve.  In fact I’d say I’m still learning.

I did complete the first issue and had it printed.  It sits right at 30 pages of story.  You can go to the shop and purchase a physical copy or a PDF version if you can’t wait or bookmark this page and come back every so often and enjoy the adventure for free.  I’ll be posting about my process creating Deep Dive Five and where I’m at in the progression of the next story.  I had so much fun creating Deep Dive Five and I have big plans for the characters as I explore their world and send them into perilous adventures.  I hope you enjoy the adventure!
